Dolphins 70 point outburst, Rodgers’ fall among Becker’s Top 10 moments for 2023

As the NFL season has wound down, it’s important to look back at such a crazy NFL season and the top moments that came about.  

10) Raiders Upset Chiefs on Christmas Day; many Chiefs players took this game to heart and said began their rebirth to their playoff run and it was also the game that clinched Antonio Pierce going from interim to official head coach of Las Vegas.

9) Packers demolish Cowboys in Wild Card Round; Green bay became the first 7th seed to win in the playoffs winning 48-32 and adding another long off season for the Cowboys and their fans. 

8) CJ Stroud and Will Anderson Jr. named Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year; as the Chiefs continue on their dynastic run, the Texans may be future competition with both Stroud and Anderson playing well and leading Houston to the playoffs. 

7) Joe Flacco leads the Browns to the Playoffs; after starting 3 other quarterbacks, Cleveland turned to the gray haired veteran in Week 13.  He led them to a 4-1 record and just their 2nd playoff berth in the past 21 years

6) Tyler Bass’ kick sails wide right; the Buffalo Bills thought they had the Chiefs right where they wanted them, playing in Buffalo and not in Arrowhead.  But Bass missed the kick and Kanas City completed the upset bring back memories of the Bills Super Bowl loss in 1990.

5) Lions return to prominence; despite the loss in the NFC Championship game this was a groundbreaking year for Detroit.  They won both the NFC North Championship for the first time in 30 years and they won their first playoff game for the first time in 32 years.

4) Dolphins put up 70 against the Broncos; Miami was the first team ever to score 10 touchdowns from the line of scrimmage.  First of many breakout games for Wide Receiver Tyreek Hill.

3) Taylor Swift vs the Chicago Bears; what started the phenomenon of the great singer attending her boyfriend’s games. The game garnered 24.3 million viewers

2) Aaron Rodgers tears Achilles 4 plays in; after just 4 plays on the opening game Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles which changed the landscape of the AFC East for the season.  The Jets went on to win the game on a remarkable punt return in overtime over Buffalo.

1) Chiefs win 3rd Super Bowl in 5 years; the Chiefs are on a remarkable run with Patrick Mahomes looking more like not just one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, but one of the best athletes in the history of North American sports.  The Chiefs defensive run against Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson and Brock Purdy is also as remarkable as any.
