Dalton Kincaid

Comparing Bills’ Kincaid to other top tight ends in 2023 Draft

Last season, three tight ends were taken in the first 36 picks.

Their performances varied but all three came on strong at the end of the season.

Here is a look at their performance and Pro Football Focus grade entering the 2024 season.

  1. Dalton Kincaid, Buffalo Bills (26th overall pick): Kincaid had 73 receptions and two receiving touchdowns.  With the recent trade of Stefan Diggs, look for the Bills to utilize Kincaid as a more primary target. Pro Football Focus grade: 67.2
  2. Sam Laporta, Detroit Lions (35th overall pick): Laporta broke the record for most receptions for a rookie tight end with 86.  He also had 10 touchdowns and should be a key factor for Jared Goff and company to get back to the NFC Championship.  Pro Football Focus (PFF) grade: 76.4
  3. Michael Mayer, Las Vegas Raiders (36th overall pick): Mayer had only 27 receptions and two touchdowns.  His missed the last three games due to injury.  He will benefit from Las Vegas this season having a steady starter at quarterback.  ProFootball Focus grade: 58.3

All three tight ends will be closely compared for their careers.  As they enter their second NFL seasons, all three should add to their receptions and touchdowns totals in 2024.
